Finding and incredibly fun RV Park can be the ultimate summer vacation for kids and for families. We love looking for something a bit extra and a bit unique about different parks. Water is always on top of the list as well as lots of amenities for families and kids. These parks will definitely knock the top off the fun metre!
Jellystone Park and Campground
Jellystone Parks and Campgrounds are synonymous with fun for kids. There are over 75 dotted around the USA and Canada and whichever one you choose you can be assured the there will be fun to be had.
Every Jellystone park comes complete with pools, splash pads and plenty of water play. Depending on location you could be tubing down a river or jumping waves at the beach. Each location has something different and unique to offer its guests.
Challenge the kids to a round of mini golf with nearly every park complete with an 18 hole mini golf course. Kids will like the well thought out playgrounds as well as the all too popular jumping pillows. I am yet to meet a kid (or adult) who did not love a good jumping pillow.
If you happen to visit between Memorial day and Labor Day you will be treated to themed weeks with different activities and shenanigans to match. The atmosphere is electric and is the postcard picture of summer.
Every day you can expect some kind of fun organised activity for the kids. There will be art and crafts, sack races, bingo and wagon rides just to name a few. If you are super lucky you can even organise for Yogi bear to do the bedtime routine and read the little ones their bedtime story. End the night with a movie in the outdoor theatre with all your new friends that you made during the day.
Fort Wilderness
Fort Wilderness is Disney’s very own RV park situated in Florida right next to Disney World. As with anything Disney it is an incredible place to be. Disney really does go all out to make sure it really is the “happiest place on earth”. We love Fort Wilderness because it is the more affordable option to staying in Disney themed accomodation. While Fort Wilderness is still a lot pricier than other RV parks it is very affordable when you compare it to other Disney accomodation.
There is so much on offer at Fort Wilderness that kids will have almost as much fun at the RV park as they will at the parks. It truly is a fun RV park. There are swimming pools and activities offered every day, restaurants, playgrounds and sports courts. Kids will also love being able to try their hand at archery or learn to ride a horse. During seasonal time they also offer sleigh rides which will just make the trip all the more special. We love the fact that it is Disney accomodation with all the perks, minus the price tag.
Enjoy organised campfire sing a longs and movies nights in the pool. There is also the option to hire kayaks and bikes or perhaps you would like to try out fishing on the lake. The options for fun abound. There is so much on offer at Fort Wilderness that we recommend staying a few extra nights to fully enjoy the park on days you aren’t visiting the theme parks.
You can get to Disney World parks via shuttles, and boats. If you are staying are Fort Wilderness you can park for free in the parking area of the parks too!
Lakewood Camping Resort
If beach front camping is your thing then Lakewood Camping Resort is the place for your family. Located in Myrtle Beach NC, family fun is at the paramount at this RV park. Not only does the park have its own beach, it has also built and incredible water park complete with huge slides and a lazy river. Little ones will be well taken care of with an area just for them away.
Once you have spent a few hours in the water park you can try your hand at kayaking on one of the five lakes that are within the park. Hire a SUP, canoe or kayak and explore all the animals which call the place home including turtles!
The fun continues with a multitude of sports venues including basketball, volleyball and even some timeless classics like horse shoes and corn hole. If you are missing your daily trip to the gym, then you can be reassured that Lakewood Camping Resort has you covered with a fully equipped gym to use at your leisure.
Mini golf and fishing only add to the experience. You can either try your hand at surf fishing or stick to the lakes within the resort with are kept well stocked with fish which is going to increase your chances of making that big catch with your kids.
Now one of the huge bonuses of this RV park is that it operates a kids club! This is a rare addition to an RV park and we love it. Sometimes on vacation there are activities we want to do that are difficult with kids or we all just need a bit of a break from each other. Kids will be immersed in all things fun at kids club while you take a break or enjoy some of the parks facilities without the kids. You can be assured that they are still having the time of their life.
Masseys Landing
Masseys Landing is a gorgeous waterfront RV park located in Millsboro Delaware. It sits nestled on the shores of Rohoboth Bay. Water lovers will be in paradise at this RV park. With the ability to launch your kayaks from right within the park you are free to enjoy almost 2 miles of pristine waterfront. The calm waters make it perfect for young children to gain confidence in the water and explore the beauty around them.

Cool off if the pool or even better grab a towel and head down to the RV parks own private beach. The beach is for park guests only with plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the beautiful bay.
This is a pet friendly RV park so the fun is for all the family furry ones included. They have gone above and beyond for your pooches. This RV park has even built a dog park area where you can let your dog off their leash. There will be plenty of other doggy friends to enjoy too.I
I love the free shuttle service into town which takes you to some of the popular attractions. If you don’t feel up to heading into town to buy forgotten items or to replenish the bread and milk Masseys Landing have a well stocked park store that will be able to cater to most needs.
Another bonus feature at this RV park is the onsite restaurant to take the hassle out of cooking every meal. Vacations are all about relaxing so be sure to take a night or two off dinner prep.
If you don’t have an RV or tent make sure you check out their exquisite safari tents that are already onsite and ready for you to just start relaxing. This glamping experience will be one for the kids to remember!
Ingalls Homestead
In the beautiful prairies of South Dakota you will find the one and only Ingalls homestead. Does your family love Little House on the Prairie? If so then you will absolutely fall in love with this RV park. Here at the Ingalls homestead you can learn all about Laura and her family and partake in some of their favourite past times.
There are very limited RV sites at the homestead. However you also have the unique option of staying in a true covered wagon, or cabin. They also have some tent sites available also.
The true fun comes not necessarily from the accomodation but from visiting the homestead. It is a true step back in to a much simpler and slower paced era. Children will have fun with many unique experiences. Such as learning how to make their own skipping rope, and corn cob dolls. There are plenty of wagon rides to be had as well and visiting the old school and donning true period costumes for a lesson.
Kids will have so much fun at the Ingalls homestead even if they haven’t read the books but by reading the books prior to coming will just make it all that more magical for them.
If you are staying more than the day, your admission will cover you for the entire time you are on site. Camping costs are also incredibly well priced for such a one of a kind adventure.

The water park at Clays Park RV Resort is beyond incredible. Located in North Lawrence Ohio this sprawling 10 acre man made lake this is a kids paradise. You don’t worry about the young ones and less adventurous. They are well taken care of with specially designed splash pads and kids zones. You may want to use the vast array of floating transportation to explore the lake including kayaks, canoes and SUP. The calm waters make this the perfect place to try one or all of these activities out for the first time or the hundredth time.
We love that the RV park itself is set on 500 acres so there is plenty of room for everyone. Onsite restaurants and stores mean that once you enter those gates you will never have to leave. There are a range of sites to suit all price points.
There are are variety of sports courts and plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities. For instance hiking or biking through the sprawling 500acres of beautiful lush forests. Wind down the night with an out door movie and watch a fireworks display.

A foray of activities and art and crafts will abound every day. There is no way your family will be bored at this remarkable fun RV park. You will be back year after year.
Campland On The Bay
Another gorgeous RV park right on the waterfront, this time in sunny San Diego. We love San Diego because it reminds us so much of the Gold Coast of Australia where we currently live.
Campland on the Bay have been in business for over 50 years so they have perfected fun. The waterfront location as you would guess lends the parks to an abundance of water related fun. Whether you are paddling along on a SUP or enjoying the thrill of the jet skis Campland on the Bay has every sort of play water play vessel available for hire. If you are unsure about paddle boarding with kids check out this post. It will help ease your worries and give you some great tips .
Make sure you bring your furry friends with you as they will love the purpose build dog park and running amok with all their new doggy friends. If you happen to be visiting during a holiday season don’t forget to pack a costume for you pup so they can walk the best pet costume parade.

Zion River Resort
This is where we were supposed to be staying before the craziness of 2020 put a road block in our plans! Zion National Park is one of our favourite places in the world but we aren’t quite up to the limited amenities that come with camping in the park itself. Zion River Resort is a great alternative close by.
One of the amazing opportunities they provide for the old and young a like is special education sessions. You are able to be taught skills like how to recognise animal tracks or different archeological aspects to Zion National Park. Our homeschooled kids soak these kinds of opportunities up and it really enhances your trip into the park when you have learnt some interesting facts that you can now see play out right in front of you.
Zion River Resort also offers different activities each day such as water fights, root beer floats and s’mores. These are great opportunities for families to get to know each other and form great friendships in the campground. Maybe you will even do a hike together later in the week.
Another enticing activity that will excite the kids is being able to try their hand at mining. The RV park puts on regular digs for families to get up and dirty with the archaeology of the area.
During the busy months you will be pleased to know that there is a free shuttle bus. It runs between the RV Park and Zion National Park’s visitors centre. Leave the car and the hassle of looking for that infamous carpark behind!.
Once you make it back to this incredibly fun RV Park after a long day of camping you the sight of the cool refreshing water in the pool will be true beauty to behold.
